Cancer Infomation Center

The Cancer Information Center has many helpful books and videos for all patients.

Location

  • by the escalators on the main floor

Hours

  • 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday

Who can use the Centre?

  • cancer patients, their families and friends
  • Alberta Cancer Board staff and volunteers

Is there a fee to use the Centre?

  • no, all the services of the Centre are free
  • donations are welcome

Photocopying

  • volunteer staff will assist you with any photocopying

Collection

  • books, videos, audiocassettes, compact discs, and pamphlets on the following topics:
    • cancer types and therapies
    • coping with cancer
    • bereavement
    • nutrition
    • inspirational/motivational stories

Information and referral

Our volunteers can help you:

  • use the Centre's resources to find the information you are looking for
  • make every effort to answer your requests for information from our resources or refer you to those people or agencies who may be able to help

All borrowers must complete

  • a Borrower's Registration Card
  • provide at least one form of identification: a driver's license and/or a patient I.D. number
  • a VISA or MasterCard imprint may also be taken

Books

  • 3 weeks
  • 1 renewal provided that no reserves have been placed

Audio-visual materials

  • 1 week
  • no renewals

Returning materials

  • return materials in person or by mail
  • if the Centre is closed, leave the materials at Main Reception in the front lobby

Three videos that have been recommended for people interested in knowing more about breast cancer treatment are:
