Physical Therapy Services

If you have any questions or concerns about any restriction in shoulder movement or swelling of your arm, speak to your clinic doctor or nurse. You can be referred to the Physiotherapy Department for special exercises or treatment.

Outpatient Physical Therapy Clinic

The outpatient physical therapy clinic at the Cross Cancer Institute can be accessed by registered patients with a doctor's referral. The clinic provides services for physical problems due to cancer or cancer treatment. Clinic hours are: Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Services provided include:

  • Shoulder mobilization in preparation for radiation therapy (RT)
  • Treatment for joint stiffness resulting from RT: education, exercise, stretching, manual mobilization, and/or electrotherapy
  • Treatment for post-surgical shoulder stiffness, cording and/or radiation induced stiffness
  • Assessment and treatment of lymphedema secondary to surgery and/or RT: education, manual lymph drainage massage (MLD), vibration massage, sequential pumps, compression garments, bandaging, compression systems and/or exercise
  • Breast class: An information class for breast cancer patients who have undergone surgery and/or RT is held Tuesday - Phone: (780) 432-8716
  • Arm neuropathies secondary to cancer or cancer treatment
  • Pain management
