New Patient Information

When you or someone you care for is diagnosed with a breast cancer, it can be a very stressful and worrisome time. Many people find that learning more about breast cancer in general is very helpful at this time.

There are many sources of information about cancer available on the Internet. We have searched and have listed the ones that have very good information about breast cancer and would be the most helpful for you.

Reading the information in these websites will help you to talk about and understand some of the information that the doctors and nurses will discuss with you.

Staging

It is important for your doctor at the Cross Cancer Institute to know the 'stage', or the extent of your breast cancer. Once the results of any extra tests and the stage of your cancer are known, the doctor will talk with you about possible treatments, or any clinical trials that you might be eligible to take part in. This booklet has been developed to help people who take chemotherapy treatments to feel their best and how to manage any side effects they might experience. The booklet discusses basic side effects of chemotherapy - your doctor and nurse will talk more with you about your specific treatments.
