Dr. Alexander H.G. Paterson

Dr. Paterson trained at Edinburgh University Medical School, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, UK. He worked for fifteen years at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton as a Medical Oncologist in the areas of breast cancer, melanoma, and gynecological oncology. Since coming to Calgary, he has continued his work in breast cancer and neuroendocrine malignancies. His past research has included studies on the natural history of breast cancer, and he has conducted and participated in many clinical trials of hormone therapy and systemic chemotherapy. He has a major interest in bone pathophysiology, and is currently on the Board of Directors of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast Project (NSABP), and is Chair of NSABP-B34. He continues to contribute to clinical research of new drugs and innovative therapies, and has an interest in teaching physical examination skills for medical students.
